Attorney Jan Atwill has practiced law in the Portland area and worked with different law firms for many years. Since 2009, she worked with the Law Office of Megan Glor in the area of ERISA benefits. Jan previously practiced law with two large Portland-based commercial law firms, Bullivant, Houser and Preston, Gates & Ellis. She graduated from the University of Oregon Law School in 1989. Jan is zealously committed to helping individuals who have been wrongfully denied disability and health insurance benefits. She is the mother of two grown children, and spent years as a parent wrestling with insurance companies and managing issues of insurance denials in the context of one child’s chronic illness and disability.

She is knowledgeable and experienced at preparing Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (“QDROs”) in compliance with ERISA and applicable retirement plans to divide retirement benefits related to divorce.

Jan serves on the Executive Committee of the Disability Law Section of the Oregon State Bar. She also volunteers at the Portland Art Museum Rental Sales Gallery, and the Free Federal Law Clinic.

In her spare time, Jan hikes the NW forests, and enjoys Portland’s art scene and its foodie culture. She also loves time spent with family, friends, and her dog Nellie.
